Our Story
The Swiss company was founded on August 24, 2001, in Obermatt on Lake Lucerne and has implemented numerous projects for medium and large European companies in the areas of ESG and compensation, as well as numerous publications in national and international media. We are proud to actively participate in three key United Nations initiatives: the UN Global Compact, the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEP) and the Forward Faster campaign.
Obermatt relies on a lean core team specialized in indexed performance measurement and compensation, the majority of whom have been part of the Obermatt family for more than 15 years.
Dr. Hermann J. Stern
Dr. Hermann Josef Stern is Chairman of the Board of Obermatt, INSEAD IN-Board alumnus and lecturer at the Board Executive School of the University of St. Gallen. Stern developed indexed performance measurement and Triple Bottom Line / ESG compensation methods and has published on these topics at universities, in the media and in research. He holds a PhD in Ethics from the University of St. Gallen and previously worked at Compaq (HP), Swisscom and UPAQ. Hermann enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons and is passionate about skiing, sailing, yoga, martial arts, meditation and nature. He is honorary president of the HSG Alumni Club Dalenades.
Michaela Schärli
Michaela Schärli is a Partner at Obermatt. Previously, she held leadership positions at German private banks for around twenty years. Under her leadership, she established the successful market entry of the Swedish SEB Bank into the specialized field of private banking in Hamburg. Another milestone was coaching and organizational development at private bank Berenberg during a landmark expansion phase. Her diploma as a banking specialist at M.M. Warburg & CO, training as a business coach and management studies at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) form the foundation of her entrepreneurial expertise. In her private life, she loves spending time with her three sons, playing tennis and cycling to discover new and unknown terrain.
Nicole Dollé
Nicole Dollé is Head of Service Contracts, responsible for delivering indexed performance measurement for our clients for use in compensation and strategy. Before joining Obermatt in 2008, she worked as a medical assistant in an ophthalmology practice. She then completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Berkeley, California, USA. Outside of work, she enjoys swimming in summer, skiing in winter, and playing piano and guitar year-round.
Daniel Wiederkehr
Daniel Wiederkehr is Head of Analysis and Special Projects, responsible for corporate analysis and the operation of equity research, for which he provides technical and analytical leadership. Before joining Obermatt in 2008, he worked in controlling at the Feldschlösschen brewery in Rheinfelden, Switzerland. He completed a trinational degree program in business administration at the Université de Haut-Alsace, the Berufsakademie Lörrach and the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland. Outside of work, he enjoys sports including gymnastics, floorball and Krav Maga, as well as hiking, travelling and reading.
Dr. Candace S. Cheng
Dr. Candace S. Cheng is responsible for ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) performance measurement and B Corp certification at Obermatt. Before co-founding Obermatt, she held marketing and branding positions at technology, consumer goods and financial companies. She worked for Mattel in Los Angeles, USA in market research and in Switzerland at Swiss Re and UBS in marketing and leadership roles. Dr. Cheng studied economics and international marketing at the University of California, Berkeley and Boston University, and holds a PhD from the University of St. Gallen. She enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, art and singing.
Milos Plazacic
Milos Plazacic studied mechanical engineering at the University of Novi Sad. He also learned object-oriented programming and worked as a maintenance engineer, multimedia designer and video editor for a local television station. In his free time, he advocates for public transport and micromobility and is involved in organizations dealing with urban issues.
Hermann J. Stern Jr.
Hermann J. Stern Jr. is responsible for product management at Obermatt and manages the equity analysis tool. He completed his three-year commercial apprenticeship at Credit Suisse in summer 2023 and passed the Passerelle exam with a focus on business and services in summer 2024.
Carola Repky
Carola Repky supports Obermatt in client acquisition. She held leadership positions at SBB and the Swedish industrial group Sandvik for 15 years. She is a lecturer at the Swissmem Academy and an honorary board member of the Swiss Management Organization SKO and the Swiss Entrepreneurs Association. Ms. Repky studied business administration at the University of Passau in Germany. She loves sailing on Lake Neuchâtel with her husband and daughter.
Aleksandar Todorovic
Aleksandar Todorovic designs Obermatt's graphic design and further develops the corporate identity. Since 2016, he has created countless charts and analyses for clients and publications. He studied design at the Belgrade Polytechnic and continued his education through numerous courses. He brings diverse experience in print and design media. He is an avid record collector, enjoys music and even designs furniture in his spare time — that is, when his cat Freddie isn't keeping him busy.
Hans Münch
Hans Münch is an expert in compensation matters and is called upon when long-standing leadership experience is important in projects. Before joining Obermatt in 2016, he held various positions in executive compensation and reward at the Swiss Bank Corporation, Swiss Re and Towers Watson. He studied history, political science and constitutional law at the University of Zurich. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, travelling and is a passionate cook, wine connoisseur and literature expert.
